Henrietta Lacks Heads to HBO
Thursday, May 13th, 2010The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, about a poor black woman from Baltimore whose cancer cells continue to be used in medical research, is still on the NYT Best Seller Hardcover Nonfiction list after 14 weeks.
Now Oprah Winfrey has picked it up, not for her show, but for an HBO film. According to an AP story, she and Alan Ball (Six Feet Under and True Blood) will join forces to produce it. No news yet on when it will go in to production.
